Podiatrists and Haglund's Deformity

Another name for Haglund's Deformity is retrocalcaneal bursitis. The heel bone enlarges in the back area where the Achilles tendon attaches to the bone. This sometimes painful deformity generally is the result of bursitis caused by pressure against the shoe, and can be aggravated by the height of stitching of a heel counter of a particular shoe. Sometimes something as simple as changing your shoes can alleviate the symptoms.
